Seniors are rugby players aged 18 and up. Already have rugby experience or none at all? You can join any of our senior teams, regardless of experience or level. Rugby is a sport where all kinds of elements come together; it’s a full workout combining strength, endurance, and strategy. We highly value rugby’s core values: respect, discipline, and camaraderie. This is reflected not only on the field but also off it: having a chat after training or a match in our clubhouse, or for example, by volunteering for the club. <\/p>\n

What started as a student team has grown into a mix of students, locals, and true Wageningers. The men consist of two teams: RC Wageningen H1 competes in the third division, and the Purple Panthers (in combination with Driebergen) play in the fourth division. The men’s team has few obligations, enjoys a beer after training and during the “Third Half,” and we also regularly eat together, enjoying international dishes prepared by one of our international players. Furthermore, the Club Song and other Third Half songs are sung during the festivities. The first women’s team was founded at RC Wageningen, and in 1975, during RC Wageningen’s 1st lustrum, the first official women’s match in the Netherlands was played against Eindhoven. In the following years (’83, ’84 & ’85), we even became national champions. On April 13, 2025, we extensively celebrated the 50th anniversary of our team’s founding with all kinds of fun activities. <\/p>\n The women consist of 2 teams: RC Wageningen D1 plays in the first division and the Purple Lions (in combination with Eindhoven) play in the second division. The Bechet tournament was only open to rugby teams from the national Ereklasse, which meant Rugby Club Wageningen could not participate. The clubhouse is open for a coffee from 7:30 PM, and at 8:00 PM the players head onto the field for touch rugby training. It’s a diverse group of members: parents of youth players, former or injured senior members, and above all, the focus is on having a good time. After training, there is always a drink in the clubhouse. In addition to the training sessions on Friday evenings, (friendly) matches are regularly played against other clubs, or we participate in tournaments at home and abroad. <\/b><\/p>\n
