Op 22 september speelden de dames hun eerste wedstrijd van het seizoen, uit tegen de Cheetahs in Haarlem. Er hebben wat veranderingen plaatsgevonden in de staf, met Arjanne als captain en Steven als hoofdcoach/trainer en dit nieuwe hoofdstuk werd positief ingeluid. Waar het in het begin van de wedstrijd nog gelijk op ging met de Cheetahs wist RCW in de 2e helft door te pakken, met als eindresultaat 5 – 41 voor de Wageningse dames, een bonuspunt mee naar huis!
29 september kwamen beide teams in actie, de Purple Lions mochten ook de wei weer in en speelden tegen de Brabant Ladies in Den Bosch. De combinatie Wageningen/Eindhoven startte sterk, maar moest in de laatste minuut de beslissende try tegen consolideren en verloor nipt met 38-36. Toch kijken ze tevreden terug, er werd goed samen gespeeld en iedereen liet mooie acties zien.
Wageningen D1 speelde thuis op de Zoom tegen URC, een sterke tegenstander. Vooral Ari en Sacha waren extra gebrand om deze wedstrijd te winnen: Ari’s zus speelt bij URC en Sacha heeft een aantal jaar voor de Utrechtse dames gespeeld maar is nu weer terug op het vertrouwde Wageningse honk. Vanaf het begin ging het er dan ook fanatiek aan toe en Wageningen had in de eerste helft de overhand. URC kwam in de tweede helft nog sterk terug maar kon Wageningen niet meer inhalen, eindscore 29-14!
Zondag 6 oktober spelen de Purple Lions thuis in Eindhoven en is Wageningen een weekendje vrij. Kickoff in Eindhoven is om 1 uur, wees welkom om te komen supporten!

Where it was still equal with the Cheetahs at the beginning of the match, RCW managed to continue in the second half, with the final result 5 – 41 for the Wageningen ladies, a bonus point to take home!
On September 29, both teams came into action, the Purple Lions were also allowed to enter the field again and played against the Brabant Ladies in Den Bosch. The combination Wageningen/Eindhoven started strongly, but had to consolidate the decisive try in the last minute and narrowly lost 38-36. Nevertheless, they look back with satisfaction, they played well together and everyone showed great actions.
Wageningen D1 played at home at the Zoom against URC, a strong opponent. Ari and Sacha in particular were extra keen to win this match: Ari’s sister plays for URC and Sacha played for the Utrecht women’s team for a few years but is now back at the familiar Wageningen home base. From the start, it was a fanatical affair and Wageningen had the upper hand in the first half. URC came back strongly in the second half but could not catch up with Wageningen, final score 29-14!
On Sunday 6 October, the Purple Lions will play at home in Eindhoven and Wageningen will have a weekend off. Kick-off in Eindhoven is at 1 o’clock, you are welcome to come and support!
