Wat hebben we zondag 1 september genoten op De Zoom! Het weer was fantastisch en we mochten een geweldige opkomst van rugbyers en rugby liefhebbers verwelkomen. Precies om 10.30 begonnen we met de Landelijke Opwarmdag voor Dames, het Girls Rugby Festival, en Fialar. Dankzij de goede samenwerking met de andere verenigingen op ons sportpark hadden we vier velden tot onze beschikking, ontzettend fijn!
De wedstrijden waren stuk voor stuk spannend om naar te kijken, zowel bij de heren, dames als de meisjes. Alles was uitstekend geregeld, met een bar naast het veld voor verfrissende drankjes en een burgerstand voor wie trek had in iets hartigs. Gelukkig was er ook aan de vitamientjes gedacht, want we hadden een mooie deal met de Plus uit Bennekom, die meer dan 600 stuks fruit leverde voor alle deelnemers.
’s Middags werd er voor het eerst touch rugby gespeeld op Fialar, waardoor iedereen van de club mee kon doen. De buikschuifbaan was een perfecte manier om af te koelen na alle wedstrijden. Aan het einde van de middag vond natuurlijk de prijsuitreiking plaats – wie ging er met de felbegeerde bloempotten vandoor? Bij de heren was dat URC 2 en bij de dames AAC/Groot Mokum in de ere/1e klasse categorie. De Obelix dames wonnen de poule in de 2e/3e klasse, maar waren helaas al vertrokken.
Voorzitter Sander Dijkslag vestigde nog even de aandacht op het waarom van de Landelijke Opwarmdag Dames en Girls Rugby Festival in Wageningen, waardoor nu veel damesteams op de hoogte zijn van het aanstaande 50-jarig jubileum van damesrugby. Uiteraard werden ook de scheidsrechters bedankt—zonder hun inzet zou dit toernooi niet mogelijk zijn geweest!
Daarna volgde nog een leuke verrassing voor iedereen die aanwezig was: ons eerste lustrumbier werd geschonken in het clubhuis. Het lokaal gebrouwen Woagenings Scrumkoppe was zeer in trek aan de bar na zo’n warme dag!
Een dikke pluim voor de toernooicommissie en alle vrijwilligers—het was fantastisch georganiseerd, en dat hadden we niet zonder jullie kunnen doen. Ontzettend bedankt!
What a great time we had on Sunday 1 September at De Zoom! The weather was fantastic and we welcomed a great turnout of rugby players and rugby enthusiasts. At exactly 10.30 we started with the National Warm-up Day for Ladies, the Girls Rugby Festival, and Fialar. Thanks to the good cooperation with the other clubs at our sports park, we had four fields at our disposal, which was great!
The matches were all exciting to watch, for men, women and girls. Everything was excellently organised, with a bar next to the field for refreshing drinks and a burger stand for those who wanted something savoury. Fortunately, vitamins were also taken into account, because we had a great deal with the Plus from Bennekom, who supplied more than 600 pieces of fruit for all participants.
In the afternoon, touch rugby was played for the first time at Fialar, so everyone from the club could participate. The belly slide was a perfect way to cool down after all the matches. At the end of the afternoon, of course, the prize-giving ceremony took place—who would walk away with the coveted flower pots? For the men, it was URC 2 and for the women, AAC/Groot Mokum in the honor/1st class category. The Obelix women won the pool in the 2nd/3rd class, but had unfortunately already left.
Chairman Sander Dijkslag briefly drew attention to the reason for the National Warm-up Day Women’s and Girls Rugby Festival in Wageningen, which has now informed many women’s teams of the upcoming 50th anniversary of women’s rugby. Of course, the referees were also thanked—without their efforts, this tournament would not have been possible!
Then there was a nice surprise for everyone present: our first lustrum beer was served in the clubhouse. The locally brewed Woagenings Scrumkoppe was very popular at the bar after such a hot day!
