Op 21 september moesten de Cubs aantreden tegen Hilversum, op een (misschien iets te warme) zonnige ochtend. Vorige week was er ruim gewonnen tegen Eemland, maar vandaag hadden we een sterkere tegenstander. Hilversum kwam op voorsprong met 2 tries en conversions, maar wij konden daarna ook meteen een try en conversie maken. We stonden goed te tackelen en we zagen mooie rucks, en er werd goed samengewerkt. Jammer genoeg was de tegenstander een maatje te groot… Wel goed de spirit er in gehouden, en hard gewerkt tot de laatste actie, goed gedaan allemaal. Eindstand: CL Hilversum CU 1 – CL Wageningen/Duuvels CU 1: 52 – 7. Alle ouders en publiek dat mee was gekomen bedankt!
Een week later speelden de Cubs een thuiswedstrijd in Zevenaar, op het veld van clustergenoot de Duuvels. De Pink Panthers waren de tegenstander. Onze jongens en meiden knalden erin en Sam drukte na een geweldige rush de eerste try. De Pink Panthers vochten voor wat ze waard waren, maar het lukte ze door de sterke verdediging, het mooie aanvalsspel van zowel de forwards als de lijn en de mooie conversies van Gijs en Beer niet om terug te komen in de wedstrijd. Uiteindelijk gingen we er na een spannende pot met de overwinning vandoor! De eindstand was 24-17.
On September 21st, the Cubs had to play against Hilversum, on a (perhaps a bit too warm) sunny morning. Last week, they had won big against Eemland, but today we had a stronger opponent. Hilversum took the lead with 2 tries and conversions, but we were able to score a try and conversion right after that. We tackled well and saw nice rucks, and there was good cooperation. Unfortunately, the opponent was a size too big… We kept the spirit up, and worked hard until the last action, well done everyone. Final score: CL Hilversum CU 1 – CL Wageningen/Duuvels CU 1: 52 – 7. A week later, the Cubs played a home game in Zevenaar, on the field of cluster mate de Duuvels. The Pink Panthers were the opponent. Our boys and girls went for it and Sam scored the first try after a great rush. The Pink Panthers fought for what they were worth, but they were unable to get back into the game due to the strong defense, the beautiful attacking game of both the forwards and the line and the beautiful conversions of Gijs and Beer. In the end, we walked away with the victory after an exciting game! The final score was 24-17.
