De Cubs begonnen zaterdag 5 oktober tegen Utrecht 2 op weer een heerlijke zonnige morgen met een bijna volle selectie. Dat betekende dat er heel veel wissels waren, en de meesten een halve wedstrijd zouden spelen – waarmee we dus veel frisse kracht aan de kant hadden. We begonnen sterk, en stonden een tijd heel dichtbij de Utrechtse try line. Utrecht kwam de schrik te boven, en scoorde zomaar 3 tries in de eerste helft. We stonden wel heel goed te verdedigen, mooie tackles, en goeie scrums. In de rucks werden we soms een beetje overrompeld door Utrecht. We begonnen de tweede helft met 17-0 achter, maar onze verse energie hielp, we scoorden snel een try en het werd zelf nog even spannend. De tweede try kwam in het eindsignaal, heel goed teruggevochten. Daarmee werd de eindstad 17-10. Als de wedstrijd nog 5 minuten langer had geduurd hadden we misschien nog meer punten gepakt! Alle het publiek, en de ouders bedankt voor de support en de hulp bij deze spannende thuiswedstrijd.
The Cubs started October 5 against Utrecht 2 on another lovely sunny morning with an almost full selection. This meant that there were a lot of substitutions, and most of them would play half a match – which meant that we had a lot of fresh energy on the side. We started strongly, and were very close to the Utrecht try line for a while. Utrecht got over the shock, and scored 3 tries in the first half. We defended very well, nice tackles, and good scrums. In the rucks we were sometimes a bit overwhelmed by Utrecht. We started the second half with a 17-0 deficit, but our fresh energy helped, we quickly scored a try and it even became exciting for a while. The second try came in the final whistle, fought back very well. This brought the final score to 17-10. If the match had lasted 5 minutes longer we might have scored even more points!
