Zondag 6 oktober speelden de Paarse Panthers (Pink Panthers & RCW) een wedstrijd op de Zoom. De voorbereiding op deze wedstrijd was vreemd – er stond wedstrijd tegen Scrumboks (Tiel) op programma, maar de perenoogst moest nog worden binnengehaald en de tegenstander had niet genoeg spelers. Dus navigatie werd aangepast naar Deventer waar het derde team mocht aantreden.
De eerste 20 minuten werd er veel geknuffeld bij de forwards, de theeleuten schuurde tegen onze try line aan maar we kwamen onder de druk uit. Daarna namen we het heft in handen. Met name in de lijn, Glenn had echt vuur in z’n sloffen. Die mocht vandaag 3 tries drukken, de held. Met Marco (terug op de velden) op de tien (en bij afwezigheid Demis) hadden we toch wat controversiële kickjes op z’n tijd. Onze Ierse immigrant Morley mocht ook een try drukken, net terug van vakantie en na pas één week training. Dan kun je nagaan wat zijn vorm gaat zijn rond de kerst. Na rust waren de kaarten redelijk geschud en kregen onze ervaren helden Phil en Fred ook de de kans om een try te drukken. Ook mooi om te melden: Nick (RCW) maakte z’n debuut onvergetelijk door een try te maken, meer dan verdienstelijk debuut. Smaakt naar meer.
Met een eindstand van 67-10 was het een mooie pot rugby, en volgende week een super super super Sunday met 3 teams die thuis spelen in Driebergen! Dit wordt ook een wekker zetten voor ons trouwe publiek.
On Sunday 6 October, the Purple Panthers (Pink Panthers & RCW) played a match at the Zoom. The preparation for this match was strange – there was a match against Scrumboks (Tiel) on the program, but the pear harvest still had to be brought in and the opponent did not have enough players. So navigation was adjusted to Deventer where the third team was allowed to compete.
The first 20 minutes there was a lot of hugging among the forwards, the tea lovers rubbed against our try line but we got out from under the pressure. After that we took control. Especially in the line, Glenn really had fire in his slippers. He was allowed to score 3 tries today, the hero. With Marco (back on the fields) on the ten (and in his absence Demis) we still had some controversial kicks from time to time. Our Irish immigrant Morley was also allowed to score a try, just back from vacation and after only one week of training. Then you can imagine what his form will be around Christmas. After the break the cards were fairly shuffled and our experienced heroes Phil and Fred also got the chance to score a try. Also nice to report: Nick (RCW) made his debut unforgettable by scoring a try, more than creditable debut. Tastes like more.
With a final score of 67-10 it was a beautiful game of rugby, and next week a super super super Sunday with 3 teams playing at home in Driebergen! This will also set an alarm for our loyal audience.
