Op de laatste Friday Night Touch op 13 juni werd een toernooi georganiseerd onder het motto “Anything but Purple”. Ruim 40 spelers uit geheel RCW, met zowel ervaren rugbyers als ouders van jeugdspelers, deden mee en ondanks de hoge temperaturen werd het een mooi toernooi. Omdat bij de Friday Night Touch de einduitslag niet het belangrijkste is (want dat is het samen lekker rugby spelen), was de prijsuitreiking dan ook een verrassing. Rik de Schepper kreeg de seizoensprijs voor meest belovende speler (Rookie) omdat hij op veel vrijdagavonden aanwezig was en ook een van de spelers (met de kenmerkende handen in de zij en toekijkend) die het landskampioenschap touch T1 in de wacht heeft gesleept. Daarnaast heeft hij vrijwel elk team op het touch-Fialartoernooi aangevuld en blijkt hij buiten het veld ook nog eens heel aardig te zijn. Niet meer dan terecht dat hij de prijs in ontvangst nam.
Het seizoen voor de Friday Night touch begint weer op de eerste vrijdag in september en iedereen (ook zonder rugbyervaring) kan deelnemen. Breng een (rugby)shirt en schoenen met noppen en kom lekker meedoen! Vanaf 19.30 uur is er koffie en thee; de rest is rugbyhistorie.
On the last Friday Night Touch on June 13th, a tournament was organized with the motto “Anything but Purple”. More than 40 players from all over RCW, with both experienced rugby players and parents of youth players, participated and despite the high temperatures it was a great tournament. Because the final score is not the most important thing at the Friday Night Touch (because that is playing rugby together), the award ceremony was a surprise. Rik de Schepper received the season award for most promising player (Rookie) because he was present on many Friday evenings and also one of the players (with the characteristic hands on his hips and watching) who won the national championship touch T1. In addition, he has complemented almost every team at the touch Fialar tournament and he also turns out to be very nice off the field. It is only right that he received the award.
The season for the Friday Night touch starts again on the first Friday in September and everyone (even without rugby experience) can participate. Bring a (rugby) shirt and shoes with studs and join in! Coffee and tea will be available from 19.30; the rest is rugby history.
