Zaterdag 1 november reisden 14 TURVEN af naar Doetinchem, 2 teams zouden
er gaan spelen. Met 6 eerstejaars meiden in de hand stapte de coach op de
WASP’s coach af en een MEIDEN TURVEN team stond er.
In prachtige witte wedstrijdshirts stapten de meiden het veld op en ging keihard
op jacht naar try’s en tags.
Er werd gerend, gehuild, gebotst en gelachen, wat hadden ze een plezier
samen. 4 Wedstrijden streden de meiden om de bal. Soms met moeite tegen
veel 2de jaars, maar de koppies gingen niet omlaag. Maar menigmaal stond het
andere team verbaasd te kijken als een langharige furie weer met grote passen
de benen nam naar de achterlijn.
Bij de 4de wedstrijd kwam de regen met bakken uit de lucht, het werd een
titanenstrijd tegen de Wild Rovers. Maar geen beide liet merken het onderspit te
willen delven. Het werd 6 – 6 en wat waren de meiden voldaan.
On Saturday, November 1st, 14 TURVEN travelled to Doetinchem, where two teams would be playing. With six first-year girls at hand, the coach approached the WASPs’ coach, and a GIRLS’ TURVEN team was formed.
Wearing beautiful white match shirts, the girls stepped onto the field and went all-out in search of tries and tags.
They ran, cried, collided, and laughed — they had so much fun together.
In four matches the girls fought for the ball. Sometimes it was tough against many second-year players, but their spirits never dropped. And more than once the other team looked on in amazement as a long-haired fury again sprinted in big strides toward the try line.
During the fourth match, the rain came pouring down, turning it into a titanic battle against the Wild Rovers. But neither side showed any sign of giving in. It ended 6–6, and the girls were truly satisfied.
