De stad Wageningen is onlosmakelijk verbonden met vrijheid. Traditiegetrouw wordt in de nacht van 4 op 5 mei het Bevrijdingsvuur ontstoken voor het historische Hotel de Wereld. Het Bevrijdingsvuur is hét symbool voor leven in vrede en vrijheid. Vanuit Wageningen vertrekken loopgroepen om het vuur door heel Nederland te verspreiden.
Begin mei organiseert RC Wageningen daarom ons jeugdtoernooi: het Bevrijdingstoernooi. Een moment waarop we samen, in vrijheid een sportieve dag beleven. We willen op luchtige wijze het bijzondere van deze vrijheid, die misschien wel vanzelfsprekend is geworden voor jongeren, onder de aandacht brengen.
We sporten met elkaar, met de kernwaarden waar rugby voor staat: respect, discipline en kameraadschap.
The city of Wageningen is inextricably linked to freedom. Traditionally, the Liberation Fire is lit in front of the historic Hotel de Wereld on the night of 4 to 5 May. The Liberation Fire is the symbol for living in peace and freedom. Running groups leave from Wageningen to spread the fire throughout the Netherlands.
That is why RC Wageningen is organising our youth tournament early May: the Liberation Tournament. A moment when we experience a sporting day together, in freedom. We want to draw attention to the special nature of this freedom, which has perhaps become self-evident for young people, in a light-hearted way.
We play sports together, with the core values that rugby stands for: respect, discipline and camaraderie.
