Na maanden van voorbereiding vond in het Pinksterweekend de allereerste RCW trip voor Cubs, Junioren en Colts plaats! Het legioen werd in een duidelijk herkenbaar trip-shirt met bijbehorende pet in clubkleuren gehesen, en vrijdag na een BBQ begon de busreis.
Na een overnachting en ontbijt in Gent werd zaterdagochtend de camping bereikt in Maisons-Lafitte bereikt, gelegen in de Seine. Daar werden de tenten opgezet en verscheen een rechter op het toneel, die ongepast gedrag van een aantal spelers op gepaste wijze bestrafte. Vervolgens vertrokken de spelers naar Rugby Creteil Choisy, waar ze uitermate gastvrij werden ontvangen. De Cubs en Colts speelden een leuke wedstrijd, maar rond 19.00 kwam de regen met bakken uit de hemel en moesten de Junioren het door onweer helaas kort houden. Gelukkig was er genoeg patat met worst voor iedereen met daarnaast, voor de gastronomische spelers, zelfs een plankje met pain, fromage en charcuterie. Terug op de camping bleken de tenten de bui gelukkig te hebben overleefd en kon iedereen op tijd naar bed.
Zondag werden de tenten afgebroken en was er tijd om een duik in het zwembad te nemen, waarna de bus de groep afzette bij Montmartre. De rest van de dag maakten drie duidelijk herkenbare groepjes RCW’ers de metro en de belangrijkste toeristische attracties onveilig. Aan het eind van de middag verzamelden ze in de bar No Scrum No Win, waar ze weer erg hartelijk welkom werden geheten met koude drankjes en warme burgers. Daarna naar de La Défense Arena, waar de sfeer er goed in zat en de wedstrijd Racing 92-RC Toulon tot het laatste moment spannend bleef.
Na een nachtelijke busrit kwam de groep maandagochtend vroeg goed uitgerust aan in Wageningen, waar een aantal ouders een heerlijk ontbijt hadden klaargezet. Alle ouders, begeleiders, Rugby Creteil Choisy, No Scrum No Win en vooral de “organisatoren” Ad, Steven en Vincent: van harte bedankt!
After months of preparation, the very first RCW trip for Cubs, Juniors and Colts took place over the Whitsun weekend! The legion was donned in a clearly recognizable trip shirt with matching cap in club colors, and Friday after a BBQ the bus journey started.
After an overnight stay and breakfast in Ghent, the campsite was reached on Saturday morning in Maisons-Lafitte, located in the Seine. There the tents were set up and a judge appeared, who appropriately punished inappropriate behavior of some of the players. The players then left for Rugby Creteil Choisy, where they were received with the utmost hospitality. The Cubs and Colts played a nice game, but around 7 pm the rain came pouring down and the Juniors unfortunately had to cut it short due to a thunderstorm. Fortunately, there was enough fries and sausage for everyone and, for the gastronomic players, even a board with pain, fromage and charcuterie. Fortunately, back at the campsite, the tents had survived the storm and everyone was able to go to bed on time.
On Sunday the tents were taken down and there was time to take a dip in the pool, after which the bus dropped the group off at Montmartre. For the rest of the day, three clearly recognizable groups of RCW players roamed the metro and the main tourist attractions. At the end of the afternoon they gathered in the bar No Scrum No Win, where they were again very warmly welcomed with cold drinks and hot burgers. Then to the La Défense Arena, where the atmosphere was good and the Racing 92-RC Toulon game remained exciting until the last moment.
After an overnight bus ride, the group arrived early Monday morning well rested in Wageningen, where a number of parents had prepared a delicious breakfast. All parents, supervisors, Rugby Creteil Choisy, No Scrum No Win and especially the “organizers” Ad, Steven and Vincent: thank you very much!
