Rugby Club Wageningen is de afgelopen tien jaar enorm gegroeid naar op dit moment zo’n 250 leden, waarvan de helft jeugd. Toch is het ons nog niet gelukt om op de Zoom een eigen veld te krijgen, waardoor we vooral op zaterdagen vaak veel moeite hebben om TBM-dagen en jeugdwedstrijden te organiseren en regelmatig naar andere clubs in Gelre moeten uitwijken.
Dit probleem wordt al jaren aangekaart in overleg met Zoom-gebruikers, de Sportraad, de gemeente en in de media, maar helaas tot nu toe zonder resultaat. Daarom grepen we de laatste raadsvergadering voor de zomer aan om iets meer van ons te laten horen. Op 19 juni organiseerde de veldcommissie samen met het bestuur en jeugdcommissie aan het begin van de avond een demonstratie(potje rugby) voor het stadhuis, waar jeugdspelers raadsleden en andere geïnteresseerden een zakje vergeet-me-nietjes aanboden. De actie trok de aandacht van Wageningen in Beeld, de Stad Wageningen en de Gelderlander (ook de goede afloop).
‘s Avonds kleurde de publieke tribune paars tijdens de behandeling van de kadernota, vanaf 22.00. In motie 4M7, ingediend door VVD, D66, CDA en GroenLinks, werd het college opgeroepen om de veldverdeling op de Zoom als urgent en belangrijk te beschouwen en snel een oplossing te zoeken, met hulp van de Sportraad. Net als bij een goede rugby-wedstrijd bleef het lang spannend, maar tegen 1.00 ‘s ochtends werd de motie unaniem door de raad aangenomen! We hopen dat het college het na de zomer aandacht geeft en dat we binnenkort meer duidelijkheid hebben over onze toekomst op de Zoom!
Rugby Club Wageningen has grown enormously in the past ten years and currently has about 250 members, half of which are youth. However, we have not yet managed to get our own field at the Zoom, which means that we often have a lot of trouble organizing TBM days and youth competition games, especially on Saturdays, and regularly have to move to other clubs in Gelre.
This problem has been raised for years at Zoom user meetings, the Sports Council, the municipality and in the media, but unfortunately so far without results. That is why we used the last council meeting before the summer to ask for a little more attention. On June 19, the field committee, together with the board and youth committee, organized a demonstration (game of rugby) in front of the town hall at the beginning of the evening, where youth players offered council members and other interested parties a bag of forget-me-nots. The action attracted the attention of Wageningen in Beeld, the Stad Wageningen and the Gelderlander (also the good outcome).
In the evening, the public gallery turned purple during the discussion of the framework note, from 22.00. In motion 4M7, submitted by VVD, D66, CDA and GroenLinks, the council was called upon to consider the field division issues on the Zoom as urgent and important and to quickly find a solution, with the help of the Sports Council. Just like a good rugby match, it remained exciting for a long time, but at 1:00 am the motion was unanimously accepted by the council! We hope that the council will pay attention to this after the summer and that we will soon have more clarity about our future on Zoom!
