De competitie mag dan al afgelopen zijn, maar het rugbyen nog niet! De dames hebben de afgelopen weken deelgenomen aan verschillende 10-a-side rugby toernooien – en niet zonder succes.
In het eerste weekend van mei speelden we op het Blue Balls festival bij RC Delft waar we er achter kwamen dat het 10s spelletje ons best goed ligt en dus ging de trofee voor de eerste prijs mee naar huis.
Op 18 en 19 mei gingen we met een grote groep naar Groningen, onze cluster maatjes uit Eindhoven waren ook mee en ook het herenteam was present. Hier stond er iets meer op het spel want we wilden onze titel van vorig jaar verdedigen. We wisten opnieuw de finale te bereiken en het was ontzettend spannend maar de winst ging wederom mee naar Wageningen!
Tenslotte werd er op 25 mei op het Mariken toernooi gespeeld in Nijmegen, en we hadden een felle strijd met onze rugby ‘buren’ in het zuiden. Uiteindelijk werd er alleen verloren van de thuisclub, de LadyWasps waren deze keer net iets beter. Desalniettemin konden we opnieuw huiswaarts gaan met een mooie trofee voor de 2e plek.
De prijzenkast op de club is dus weer goed aangevuld de afgelopen weken, en het toernooien seizoen is nog niet afgelopen! We spelen nog op Amsterdam 7s en Ameland Beach rugby.
The competition may be over, but the rugby is not yet! The ladies have participated in several 10-a-side rugby tournaments in recent weeks and not without success.
In the first weekend of May we played at the Blue Balls festival at RC Delft where we discovered that we like the 10s game quite well and so we took home the trophy for the first prize.
On May 18 & 19 we went to Groningen with a large group, our cluster buddies from Eindhoven were also with us and the men’s team was also present. Here the stakes were a little higher because we wanted to defend our title from last year. We managed to reach the final again and it was very exciting, but the win once again went to Wageningen!
Finally, on May 25, the Mariken tournament was played in Nijmegen, and we had a fierce battle with our rugby ‘neighbors’ to the south. In the end they only lost to the home club, the LadyWasps were slightly better this time. Nevertheless, we were able to go home again with a nice trophy for 2nd place.
The club’s trophy cabinet has been well replenished in recent weeks, and the tournament season is not over yet! We still play rugby at Amsterdam 7s and Ameland Beach.
